A little bit about us...

At Westcountry Bushcraft we love to share our passion for the outdoors and remind people of how much nature has to offer. We have a range of courses aimed to accommodate a fantastic learning experience for families, schools, corporates and private individuals. Whether you are a complete new-comer, or have some previous experience; you’ll leave us having learnt a wealth of knowledge on how to live and prosper in an outdoor environment. We are based in the heart of Somerset and offer courses all around the historic counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

Our course content can include;
Fire-lighting
Large & small game butchery including trapping methods
Foraging
Wild cooking
Meat preservation (smoking)
Hide tanning (preserving animal skins)
Shelter building
Cordage
Basket weaving
Assault course
Wood carving (basic utensils, whistles, jewelry)

We also offer bespoke packages to cater for groups to ensure you enjoy the course from start to finish.

DEER BUTCHERY, BUSHCRAFT & WOODLAND FEAST

Join us for a day of Deer butchery, Bushcraft & Woodland Feast. Watch, listen and take part in everything you need to know about deer butchery, hide tanning, cordage making, bone tool making and of course, over the fire cooking. Everything from chopping boards, knives, pots & pans provided. NOTE: This course is 100% 'hands on'!

Wether its whittling away carving a spoon, or mastering that 'caveman style' friction fire-lighting, or weaving willow traps.....there's something for everyone!

Our woodland camp hidden away in the heart of Somerset consits of a shelter and seating for up to 60persons, parachute covered campfire area, various shelters, woodland lake, 'low ropes' assault course and more...

Bushcraft 1/2 Day Sessions

Bushcraft Afternoon (3 - 4 hour workshop) This afternoon session will give you a taster of a broad range of woodland skills. A fantastic starting place for those just looking to learn more about bushcraft. Workshops cover the following: Fire by Friction / Natural Cordage / Net Making / Trapping & Snaring / Fire Lighting / Spoon Carving basics / Natural Tinder / Natural Glues Refreshments throughout the day will be provided £35 per person, or £300 for a group of 10
